"He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything."
Colossians 1:18

About the blog:
To declare, as Paul did in Colossians, that Christ has come to have first place in everything is a weighty, glorious, incredible statement.  It is a life-changing declaration, and certainly one not to be hazarded with indifference.  If He has first place in everything, then there is no person or thing that may enjoy first place in anything:  Christ possesses an unfathomable and solitary preeminence.  As such, He richly deserves our unqualified esteem and unbroken attention.  It becomes us to devote ourselves to Him, His teachings, His example, His character, and His Word.

The purpose of this blog is simply to draw those who might read it (and indeed, those who write it) to simple considerations of the Word of God and how those divine words might call us along in our pursuit of Christ and His likeness.  I gauge it to be neither unique nor original in its purpose or indeed, in its content, but nevertheless, I hope and pray that it is profitable and refreshing to those believers in Christ who may read it, and furthermore, I pray that it might open a window of grace to unbelievers who so desperately need a sovereign Savior.

"For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen."

About the author:
I am a disciple of Christ, by His abundant, continual grace.  My life, though unremarkable enough in itself, can be viewed as a chain of grace, patience, forgiveness, and growth from my Lord and Savior (though I might wish that it trended more toward growth and less toward patience).
The Lord has blessed me with my wife of seven years, Angie.  Words fail me - she is the companion, the encourager, and the helpmeet.  Five years ago, we had a son, Jimmy.  This year, we completed the adoption of our daughter Lydia from Thailand.  They are the sanctifiers, as it were, and we love them.
We are part of Harvest Bible Chapel Carson Tahoe, where we are encouraged continually by the zeal and love of our dear brothers and sisters in the faith.  I serve as director of missions and outreach, and lead the young adults small group.
I enjoy the works of Mr. Spurgeon and of Dr. MacArthur.  There's nothing like the Word of God plainly taught, reverentially and uncompromisingly, with our great God given the place of glory He so fully deserves.
By day, I work as a design engineer.  By night, I sleep.

Here's the family, united for the first time as Angie and I returned from Thailand with Lydia.
